Pirates Broadside DBacks 16-2
In one game the Pirates managed to put up on the board a number that looks more like a 3 or 4 game running total then a single game output as they managed to 16 runs of 17 hits Sunday afternoon in Arizona. Aided by a 5 run 8th and a 7 run 9th.
The Pirates had 3 home runs during the game with Wiggington getting his with his 1st of 3 hits in the game in the 2nd inning and Ward with a 3 run shot in the 9th. By far the most impressive was Lawton's grand slam in the 8th inning that put the game away for the Pirates.
Wells pitched 7 strong innings giving up just 2 runs and 4 hits and was relieved by Grabow and Torres who pitched a scoreless inning each to close out the game. The Pirates play the Giants tonight at 10:00 where they hope to continue their winning ways.
